This piece for soprano (or Tenor) saxophone and piano is subtitled "A Tribute to the Classic Jazz Saxophonist Paul Desmond." A two-movement “classical” recital piece, it is dedicated and indebted to one of the great jazz saxophone players of all time. The Soliloquy is in 5/4 and exhibits lyrical writing with some rhythmic intensity. The Celebration is in unevenly divided 8/8 meter, with cadenza and optional altissimo at end. Moderate difficulty; 7-3/4 min. (Year of composition: 1996)
