Jules Massenet:
Meditation from 'Thais' (arr. R. Caravan)

The Meditation from the opera “Thais” by Jules Massenet (1842–1912) is one of the most expressive and expansive instrumental melodies in the 19th-century romantic tradition. This arrangement, by Ronald L. Caravan, offers maximum flexibility and usefulness to the saxophonist and saxophone teacher, with two separate accompaniments provided in order to accommodate saxophone in Bb or Eb, and three separate saxophone parts (incl. a “simplified” part that avoids altissimo register). Hence, the arrangement offers four different ways to play the arrangement! approx. 4-1/2 min.
